Based on the decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to adopt three subsidy programs for public companies within the aviation industry, under the authority of
the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications, agreements on the allocation of funds for their implementation were signed today in Mostar at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Funds in the amount of 11,800,000.00 BAM were secured in the Budget of the Federation of BiH for the year 2026 for the implementation of these programs.
Conclusion of these agreements enables a start of the program activities aimed at improving air traffic, strengthening the capacities of public companies in this sector, and ensuring a higher quality and more efficient provision of services.
In order to subsidize existing and launching new routes Minister Katić signed the Agreements worth 3,850,000.00 BAM with Dino Selimović, Acting Director of PC Sarajevo International Airport LLC Sarajevo, with Dževad Haličević, Director of PC Tuzla International Airport LLC Tuzla in the amount of 3,100,000.00 BAM; and Marko Đuzel, Director of PC Mostar International Airport LLC Mostar in the amount of 3,050,000.00 BAM.
The Agreement on co-financing the costs of leasing firefighting aircraft was also signed with a value of 1,800,000.00 BAM for PC Mostar International Airport LLC Mostar. The purpose of allocating these funds is to support a pilot project that is going to enable a quick response in the event of a fire and test all necessary operational capacities for the future development of the aerial protection and rescue system.
The significance of subsidizing the lease of Air Tractors was additionally confirmed by the previously signed Agreement on Cooperation on organizing aerial firefighting at Mostar Airport, while today's signing of the contract secures specific financial support for the implementation of the activities provided for in this program.
This completes the project of establishing a joint aerial support system in fire protection, the one the entire Federation of BiH is going to rely upon in the future. So far, four cantons have joined with their support - Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, West Herzegovina Canton, Central Bosnia Canton, and Canton 10 (Herzegbosnia).
The agreement concluded confirms the recognition of the importance of the timely involvement of air forces in protecting people, property, and natural resources, while signing of today's contract represents an important step in ensuring the conditions for its effective operational functioning.
Through the implementation of these programs, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Government of the Federation of BiH continue to invest in the development of aviation infrastructure and operational capacities of public interest, confirming the strategic importance of safe, functional, and sustainable air traffic for overall social and economic development.
